NETWORK ENGINEERING AND ADMINISTRATION:

PROJECTS OF NOTE

Project | 01 Infrastructure Upgrade for VoIP and Dante
Vertical: Non-Profit

The difficulty of upgrading the aging infrastructure of a well established and vibrant non-denominational congregation to support new VoIP services with full PoE capabilities was tackled in this project which included a campus of four discreet buildings.

Vetting of bids from multiple vendors and project management was overseen for voice services and wiring contractors. Besides the needs of PoE powered VoIP switches a full Dante, Audio over IP  (AoIP) network was desired and planned for to support their powerful and growing streaming presence as well. A fiber backbone was designed to accommodate the distances and distribution needs and was completed within budget and timelines. VLANs were successfully implemented to support VoIP and guest wireless network segmentation and for the Dante AoIP network.

Project | 02 Data Center Migration
Vertical: Medical/Physician

Detailed planning went into the migration of this client from their on-premise, discreet server infrastructure to a converged, blade based data center deployment. Co-ordination of all the elements from data center providers and connectivity to storage and security were carefully analyzed with all stake-holders.

Under Eden Engineering's consulting tenure, this client grew from four offices in one county to over twenty offices in three counties, eventually becoming the 6th largest firm in the US for their specialty. Project management tasks included moving offices, expanding existing offices, planning and deploying to a new corporate headquarters and the consistent absorption of practices as the business grew as well as the data center migration. Acquired practice's existing infrastructures and IT personnel were rigorously reviewed. Existing computing environments were created as plots and plans of systems and IP networks and new plans were created for implementation of these systems into the client's Active Directory management environment. This eased the transition process and ensured all devices and services were accounted for in the changes. Existing stakeholders, such as voice and internet providers were scrutinized and changes implemented where appropriate to business agreements and contracts.

During my tenure I worked directly with Microsoft to improve the ability of systems to authenticate to Active Directory over WAN links. These solutions were included in Windows XP SP3.
